How We Teach

Our approach to movement education is for the whole individual. Dance is an art form- expressed with the heart and soul. Our professional faculty understands the depth of influence they have on their students and know the power of experience they bring to the classroom can only be shared with an understanding and respect for each student.

Our youngest students (ages 2 ½-5) are taught through a unique creative methodology. Using themes and allowing for freedom in movement, Creative Dance and Creative Gymnastics classes give young students the opportunity to use movement as a tool for self expression. Teachers use the art form’s technique as a building block for this expression and young students leave the classroom acquiring skillfulness and fulfilled in their accomplishments.

Older students are exposed to more traditional approaches as their capabilities advance. All classes are divided by age and skill level to ensure the optimum experience. Teachers guide students through mechanical details and individually help each find the artistry within. Safety in the classroom for all students is extremely important. All gymnastics teachers are trained in spotting and safety practices.

Advanced students are challenged with high expectations and a focus on the students’ personal goals. Students preparing for Pointe work, must be physically examined by an orthopedic doctor, and technically prepared for the demands of this achievement. Intensive program students are encouraged to study more than one art from, giving strength in diversity and helping them to excel in summer intensives, in college and beyond. Our Education Director aids students by constructing personalized plans of study and recommending realistic paths toward their goal.
