- Are there
performances?
-
Because dance is
a performing art, we direct high
quality productions providing
students with the opportunity to
perform as professionals. The
performance is a learning
experience classroom lessons
simply cannot fulfill.
- Annual Mini
Performance:
-
This
delightful performance is
specifically designed for the
youngest students. 3 and 4 year
old dancers and gymnasts
showcase their talents in an
informal, intimate performance
at a local high school. Parents
and loved ones watch their
performers’ parade to the stage
and perform their class routine.
This is a special time where the
students are introduced to the
stage and delight in their
accomplishments.
- Annual Performance: The
annual performance is more than
your usual dance recital! Each
class performs as a character in
a themed theatrical. This
high-energy experience teaches
all students how a professional
theatre works and gives an
opportunity to perform in front
of a large audience. All
students, from age 5 through
Adult, share the spotlight as
they weave a story on stage.
- The
Nutcracker:
- Each year DDC&G students
present a special holiday
performance as a service to
those in our community. In
addition to public performances,
The "Nutcracker" cast travels to
various local and inner city
schools, nursing homes, and
other community events.
- Student
Performance Companies:
- DDC&G’s Repertory, Ensemble
and Exhibition Companies are
pre-professional and
recreational performing groups.
The student companies perform
several times throughout the
year including Dublin City’s “Spooktacular!”:
Boo! Boogie a Halloween-Themed
show, special spring shows, and
several days traveling into the
community.
- How is DDC&G
involved in the community?
- Miracle
Dancer:
-
Julia Wylie, a DDC&G
teacher, founded Miracle Dancer
in 2008 to raise money for
Riverside Methodist ovarian
cancer patients. This dance
performance, held at the Abbey
Theater in Dublin, and has
raised over $23,000 in three
years. One hundred percent of
the proceeds go to support
cancer patients in financial
need and helps provide funds to
purchase groceries, gas and
transportation to and from
treatments, wig vouchers,
medical equipment and medicines.
- Southside
Settlement House:
- DDC&G has provided free
movement classes to the children
of the Southside Settlement
House once every week for the
past six years. The Southside
Settlement House is a non-profit
organization that provides free
childcare to families that would
otherwise not be able to afford
it.
- Bonnie
Lavric Scholarship:
- Beloved teacher and friend,
Bonnie Lavric, passed away from
cancer in 2008. A scholarship
was created in her name to be
given each year to an
outstanding high school senior.
The first scholarship was
awarded June 2009 at the Annual
Performance.

Patrick’s Day Parade, Dublin 4th
