Q&A
with Teresa Crye Owner, Dublin
Dance Centre & Gymnastics
- How has your family contributed
to your success?
- “This is absolutely a family-run
business. And, even if not by blood,
many of our staff are adopted
family! We truly count on them all!
It is a blessing to have a
strong-knit family willing to help
you; a rarity to have family you
love to work with on a daily basis.
It can be challenging, but I
wouldn’t have it any other way!”
- What have been some of the
biggest challenges of the past 25
years?
- “Our challenges have only made
us better. The level of our staff
and programming change for the
better through our challenges. When
we hit a bump, we make sure to come
out better than before. The
challenges keep us from getting
stagnant and keep us focused on our
purpose. Recently our challenges
have been the change over to our
web-based system, but the sweat and
frustration is going to be better
for our families and better for us.
We’ll be able to spend more time on
our students and less time on
paperwork once everything is
rolling. Right now we are feeling a
challenge in our facility. We want
to be under one roof. The advantages
are countless. We are going to make
it happen!”
- What excites you the most about
the future of the studio?
- “Several things…the caliber of
training we are able to provide, the
continued diversity of our programs,
launching our Special Needs program,
and continuing to be a really
positive place for kids. Also,
opening the Bonnie Lavric Theater
and seeing the opportunities it will
provide for our students!”

|
- What is unique about DDC&G vs.
other competitors in the area?
- “We approach dance as an art
form, for any level and for any body
type. We give our students the
ability to express dance as an art
with technique as the tools, not the
outcome. Your heart is more
important in your moves versus the
height of your leap.”
- What would you like potential
parents and students to know about
DDC&G?
- “There is a place for your child
here! Whether it’s once-a-week for
the fun and physical/mental
challenge of it, or for the student
who has identified dance as their
passion. Everyone is welcome and
accepted and encouraged here. “
- What is your goal for the next
25 years?
- “I want to watch DDC&G continue
to flourish. There will be a new
person in that time; someone with
fresh dedication to our core values.
I am going to see us into a new
facility and open the Bonnie Lavric
Theater. Then watch from retirement
as it continues to inspire students
and provide an outlet for
professional artists and teachers.”
